Join us in our Women’s History Month Celebration, as we speak to a BUZZING Jersey City Piano Teacher, paving her way to success. Here’s Heidi’s story:
Please introduce yourself, and tell us a bit about your business
My name is Heidi, I have a piano studio called Heidi’s Piano Studio in Jersey City, New Jersey. The studio’s focus is giving piano lessons to kids and adults.
What do you think have been the challenges of starting a micro business?
The challenge of starting a micro business is knowing you want to do this, and you’re capable of doing this well. It’s necessary to be passionate about whatever you do in that industry. Also, you have to be patient during the downtime.
What is your favorite color?
I’ve had the same answer since I was a child, my favorite color is pink. But pink is not my favorite color anymore, I just haven’t found a better answer to this question since I don’t have a favorite color anymore.
What made you start your journey?
I couldn’t find a job as a piano teacher when I moved to New Jersey from New York, then I was like, why don’t I just open a piano studio myself? because I love teaching piano, and I love hanging out with kids.
What does the word success mean to you?
I think success means doing something you love and having a healthy body, and you are happy.
If you could choose a vacation destination to travel to without worrying about cost, where would you go?
Just like my favorite color, since I was a kid I wanted to go to Fiji because that was Truman’s favorite destination in the Truman Show, and I always wanted to go to Fiji after watching that show.
As we speak, what food item would you order if we were sitting in a restaurant?
I would choose a food that I don’t have to touch with my hands, won’t stick on my teeth, won’t make my breath smell, and is not too chewy so I’d order noodle soup since it’s my favorite.
What would you like to see your business achieve in the year ahead?
Because I am a more go with the flow kind of person, I’d like my business to still be there, and maybe have my own team for the studio.
What was the first thought that came to your mind when you got your first client?
I was just very excited, getting you first client is the first step to getting more and more clients, and getting your first client is the hardest.
What 3 words describe your morals?
Humility, integrity, and focus.
What message would you like to give women out there for Women’s History Month?
Never be afraid to fail at something. Life should be filled with mistakes because those mistakes make us grow, make us live.
We cannot wait to see Heidi’s passion grow and her future bright and music-filled. Don’t forget to check out Heidi’s piano Studio website for more about the amazing work she does through teaching.
