Mandates are dropping and masking up (or not) has become an additional choice to make. This new normal dilemma has many concerned about the possibilities of new outbreaks ( not necessarily of the actual virus) but of confrontational moods between those against and those in favor of wearing masks.
In 2020, our lives were turned upside down when Covid-19 reared its ugly head and stopped everything and everyone in their tracks. Life came to a stand-still. We then had to adjust to constantly sanitizing, practicing social distancing and good health, and of course wearing face masks.
Within the two years that have passed, we’ve somehow come to accept the new normal. Telling ourselves and each other, every now and then, how we wish things go back to the way they were while we run back into the house because we forgot our mask.
Is that wish starting to come true?
Well, on the 18th of April 2022, it was announced that wearing a mask will not be made mandatory when travelling by air after a federal judge in Florida said the mandate was unlawful. This, of course, is only within the US, if you’re travelling internationally you will still need to adhere to the Covid-19 health and safety regulations of the country you are travelling to.

It has been said that the mandate has however been extended by health officials to the 3rd of May while assessing the rise in positive Covid-19 cases.
There are certain airlines like United Airlines, American and Delta who have embraced this announcement and have said that masks are now optional on their planes. This, of course, has sparked debate all over.
should we or shouldn’t we mask up when travelling?
Some sources have said that if you’ve been fully vaccinated, not wearing a mask will not make a difference while others are still concerned and don’t mind the extra precaution of wearing a mask. It’s become a matter of personal choice know, based on where you stand believe wise. For many, the considerations to make are not only based on science, but on personal (both political and religious) beliefs.
Of course, no one wants a rise in cases resulting in cases, it remains everyone’s personal responsibility to remain safe, whether you decide to fly with a mask or not.
